iPRO Announce 30% rPET Bottle to Celebrate Recycle Week 2022

The annual celebration of recycling is back. From the 17th-23rd October 2022, Recycle Week is here to encourage more people to fight against climate change. As the FMCG industry works toward building a sustainable future, iPRO understands that taking direct action to support the global green agenda is vital to protecting natural resources. That’s why the brand is thrilled to announce its iPRO Student Edition packaging is transitioning to 30% rPET plastic.

The Future of Plastic is rPET

iPRO is proud to enter the next phase in its sustainability strategy with 30% rPET bottle packaging for iPRO Student Edition. By 2025, this recycled content is expected to reach 50%. Since the plastic content in rPET has been recycled, the material is produced without disrupting natural resources. Instead, old plastic from recycled packaging will be collected, cleaned and then remade partly into iPRO Student Edition bottles. This reduces CO2 emissions by up to 70%.

Sophie Christy, Global Commercial Director at iPRO, comments: “The transition to 30% rPET marks a huge step towards our sustainable plastic packaging goals and becoming the UK’s most sustainable hydration brand. Further changes are expected in the next few years as we work towards making iPRO Student Edition packaging 50% rPET plastic by 2025.”

Team Collaboration

Change is inevitable when everyone is moving forward together. The iPRO team continues to work together to reduce the brand’s carbon footprint - regularly looking to align the brand’s sustainability goals with its partnerships. The brand introduced the iPRO Pledge last year: an industry-wide initiative to equip sporting organisations with smart sustainability practices.

Prioritising Carboard Deliveries

Aside from its change to rPET plastic, iPRO has also switched to cardboard packaging for its partnerships and online deliveries to further reduce its plastic use. Cardboard packaging is considered to be the most sustainable because it’s bio-based, recyclable (on average more than five times) and biodegradable. According to CPI, every new cardboard box is made up of about 75% recycled material.
